Fieldtrip, July, 11 (Thursday, afternoon)

"Geology and Bordeaux wines: the example of the Margaux AOC"

Through a series of commented stops, we will discover the geology of the Médoc and, in particular, the chronology of the gravelly terraces of the Garonne and their reading in the landscape. We will demonstrate the relationship between geology and the typicity and quality of a wine before seeing how tradition had recognized the best terroirs.

The winemaking methods will be explained during a visit to a Château (Cru Artisan). The outing will end with a tasting and the possibility of acquiring a "souvenir".

The excursion will take place by bus and will be guided by Jean-Pierre Tastet, Honorary Professor of Geology. Departure 2pm from the Talence Campus in front of the University Library (Tram Art & Métiers), return to Talence around 7pm.

Participation in the costs (lunch box included): 30 €/person. The number of participants is limited and the excursion can only take place if a minimum of 20 people are registered. To facilitate the organization, you are asked to register quickly.
